Company Overview:
Our client manufactures best-in-class plastic products for the FMCG markets, serving retailers around the world through their network of state-of-the-art production facilities across Europe.
They are now looking for a Maintenance Technician with a slight electrical bias to join their ambitious team of engineers at their Durham site.
Purpose of the Role:
You will be responsible for; executing maintenance duties and taking responsibility for improvement activities as directed by the Maintenance Manager. An experienced multi skilled Technician required to actively participate within the Maintenance team to ensure the business achieves agreed KPI’s, whilst complying with Company standards. You will be accountable for developing department performance, supporting change initiatives, product quality, data accuracy and ensuring standard operating procedures are current and in line with industry best practice.
Main responsibilities of the role will include:
- Maintaining the Extrusion /Thermoforming machines effectively to the required optimum operating standards to ensure minimal downtime
- Respond to machine breakdowns
- Diagnose & effectively deal with the problems as they arise
- Support the engineering planned maintenance program with the continual improvement process
- Prioritise your workload in line with engineering guidelines and business requirements
- Liaise effectively with engineering stores to maintain stock levels of parts to ensure key equipment can be continually maintained
- Diagnosing and remedying machine faults to specification.
- Following maintenance schedules as outlined, installing new equipment and systems to specification.
- Performance of preventative maintenance tasks in line with PPM schedule.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings; training and re-training of employees; ensuring SOPs are followed on shift; general housekeeping activities within the work area.
- Fulfil other duties as directed by the Engineering Manager.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure you are supporting managers and employees.
- Comply with all current policies and procedures, updating systems as required.

- Proven experience in an engineering role.
- Excellent engineering and organisational skills.
- Flexible, challenges the norm and has a positive approach to change.
