Our client is a leading UK importer of timber, for a variety of applications including windows, doors, timber components and panelled products for a range of sectors within the construction industry.  The business is committed to reducing their environmental impact, through the importance of sourcing sustainable timber from legitimate and legal means, whilst also holding certification for recycling and regrowth initiatives. Role Overview:

The Timber Procurement Manager will be an innovative individual that will have the opportunity to manage a portfolio of key accounts across the UK, Ireland and overseas, ensuring profitability, growth, and the negotiation of strategic sourcing for the business. In addition, the candidate will bring specialist industry knowledge within the building products and timber sector that will drive continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability within an ambitious and expanding business.

Main responsibilities of the role will include:

• Driving sales and creating established relationships with both clients, traders, and international trading partners to increase market share and profitability.
• Having responsibility for the life cycle of orders, working alongside the operations director to ensure date management is maintain and communicated to all stakeholders including the client.
• Autonomy to negotiate pricing and be a part of creating commercial strategy with the senior management team to ensure compliance of all contracts and trading agreements.
• Implement sustainable sourcing practices, in line with the business’s commitment to their environmental initiatives and compliance.
• Will manage the competitive tender process to ensure it is managed fairly and in line with company procedures and regulations.
• Providing target cost support across supply chain and procurement initiatives, with contributions towards forecasting and budgets for each financial year.

Who we are looking for:

• A proactive Procurement Manager with a record of achieving target, demonstrated growth within there accounts and contract processes.
• An engaging individual that has experience building relationships with clients, stakeholders, and members of the supply chain to ensure clear communication with efficiency throughout all stages of the procurement process.
• Experience within procurement or buying within the building products sector is essential, whilst timber experience is desirable.
• Ability to self-motivate and manage own diary with the combination of independent as well as teamworking.
