Meet Amanda Riley, a new Principal Consultant at TS Grale

Tell us about the woman outside the office.

I love live music and take every opportunity to indulge my passion at the plethora of festivals around the UK and further afield. This year I’m staying close to home and going to Tramlines at Sheffield for the first time and the Isle of Wight Music Festival. Both blend diverse genres and feature rising stars and well-known artistes. Theatre and the arts generally interest me and I’m an outdoorsy person and love hiking.

Tell us about your career to date

Recruitment, recruitment and recruitment. I have spent 30 years in the industry and while I have faced the threat of being made redundant by technology, if anything the need for the personal touch is greater. I have specalised in executive search in both the private and public sector which is heavily regulated and feel comfortable and confident dealing with every level and challenge that could be sent my way.

What does career success look like for Amanda moving forward?

I am ambitious for TS Grale to be recognised as the go to recruiter for executive search in the manufacturing, engineering and industrial sectors.

So, what does Amanda think of the Recruitment Industry?

Moving from the interim public sector has given me a background in dealing with heavily regulated sectors which is invaluable.  I am able to use that insight for the benefit of the industrial sector, which is more challenging. My whole career has been spent living with the threat of IT taking over our role. There are occasions when technology and the Internet of Things can add value, but matching people with businesses and teams demands a high level of human skill that no IT will ever be able to replace. Recruitment is all about getting to build relationships with both clients and candidates to understand how a business works and what kind of individual they need to add value and help them grow.  We are helping them build the business of the future.

Why TS Grale?

I have worked with the partners before and I am excited at being given the chance to work in my home city with them. They have a very strong idea of what their values are, which are aligned to mine. It is exciting to be able to work with like minded experienced people.
